SOCIAL PHOBIA (SCOPOPHOBIA)
SCOPOPHOBIA is a fear of embarrassing, or humiliating 'on
the spot' type situations.
This is probably the most common phobia there is:
'a fear of any situation where the sufferer is likely to
feel 'on the spot', embarrassed, humiliated or judged...'
The anxiety or nervousness would be at its height either preceding
or during events and situations such as dinner parties, public
speaking, interviews, appearing in court, singing, meetings
at work - in particular when you are suddenly put on the spot
or asked an awkward question.
How does it feel to have social anxiety?
Associated symptoms include: sensitivity to criticism, negative
self image, fear of rejection, difficulty in being assertive,
worries constantly how others see them. Usually the social
phobic is quite adept at concealing their anxiety from others,
but does find it difficult to maintain eye contact.
Hypno-Analysis to find the root cause
Analytical therapy would be the most suitable course of hypnotherapy
to take and find the root cause of the anxiety, the one time
(almost always in childhood) when the anxiety got created.
It is this anxiety that is being triggered time and time again
in social situations.
Why put up with something 'inside yourself but outside your
own control' when it can be dealt with comparitively easily?
