Will
I feel hypnotised?
There is no specific feeling of being hypnotised, it is just
a warm, pleasant, relaxed, focussed feeling.
How
many visits will I need?
Simple problems will usually require one visit but the more
complex problems will require analysis and this can take from
6-12 sessions dependant on the individual. All of the treatment
is tailor-made to the individual.
How
do you hypnotise people?
Using my voice and certain language patterns I simply guide
you into...and after the session out of... a state of deep hypnotic
relaxation.
WHAT
IS HYPNOTHERAPY AND WHERE DOES IT COME FROM?
"It is a heightened sense of awareness whilst being completely
relaxed. You will find that there is no specific feeling of
being within hypnosis, just a pleasant deeply relaxed feeling
when you know you are still in control of your faculties and
senses."
Hypnotism has been around since time imemorial in different
guises eg like the tribal rituals which involve the people experiencing
trance-like states.
Anton Mesmer in the 18th century treated nervous illnesses with
magnets, giving lie to the word Mesmerism which was used to
describe hypnosis or Animal Magnetism.
The words hypnotism, hypnotic and hypnotise
were coined by a Scottish surgeon, James Braid circa 1795. Braid
was originally sceptical about hypnosis but he was convinced
that hypnosis worked after sticking a pin under the nail of
a mesmerised girl on the stage. She obviously felt no pain and
this changed his view completely.
Sigmund Freud another great name in the history of Hypnotherapy
and Psychotherapy. He lived in 19th century. Freud first used
Hypnotic suggestion in 1887.
Sergei Rachmaninov, composer spanning 19th and 20th century
resorted to hypnosis when he became depressed at his inability
to compose. Dr Nikolai Dahl treated him for 3 months and hey
presto the next concerto was born.
The traditional view of Hypnotists ie the swinging pendulum,
wearing cloaks or generally being a bit odd couldn't be further
from the truth. The session takes place in a relaxed atmosphere
and in my case two clinics with relaxer chairs and just you
and me. I can't make you do anything which is alien to you and
when you see the people on stage being hypnotised, they do those
mad things because they have a desire to perform or are exhibitionists
who have been very carefully chosen from the audience after
a thorough vetting by the Hypnotist.
I consider the following as a valid view of Hypnotherapy: It is a naturalistic treatment of conditions otherwise treated
by drugs. Using hypnotherapy I can help you to develop strengths
and amplify abilities that you didn't know you had.
